A Washington, DC native, Julie holds a BA in painting from the University of Maryland ('02) and an MFA in painting from the University of Washington ('08). She is the recipient of a 2009 GAP grant, a 2012 Pollock-Krasner Grant, and was selected in 2010 for Grey Gallery's 5x5 Northwest Emerging Artists exhibition. Julie has been a member of SOIL Artist-Run Gallery since 2009. When she's not making installations she performs as a dancing taco in the Seattle art band The Bran Flakes.
